''Love, passion, music and the feel good vibe are few simple things that I'm really into as
a person and an artist.'' The other tick of Mike Vale is obsession with the quality: "I produce music by focusing on what deejays need and what the dance floor wants. I am a good sound junkie, obsessed with every detail, so it’s not a surprise I can spend weeks fine-tuning tracks. Though the quality of sound is nothing without the content. It’s simple as that.'' Vale is a well-known act in his homeland and emerging producer abroad. Now, after building new studio and being part of the game for more than a decade as a deejay, producer, promoter and radio show host, he is ready to make a big step further into the international field as he has some really good releases scheduled for the months to come.
Mike Vale, or just Vale for his colleagues and friends, is a young deejay and producer from Slovenia, a pocket size country situated on the culturally drafty point between Mediterranean and Alps. He discovered his passion for dance music at the end of the 20th century and is passionately dedicated to it ever since: "I was raised on my father’s rich music collection. I grew up with sounds of 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, thus developed diverse taste for music which reflects in my sets and productions. This also serves me well as a producer, although I’m focusing on house and underground electronic music."
Vale’s career started to progress rapidly in the early 00's after he accepted a residency at Yucatan, one of Slovenia’s biggest clubs. That is where he grew his fan base and established friendships with many industry professionals that are still supporting him. As a passionate promoter of club culture he joined some radio crews until finally scoring his own radio show Electronic Selection that took his name further into the mainstream. After five years in Yucatan, he felt the need to focus on his artistic production as well. This was his long time desire and a necessity at the same time, as he wanted to grow further as an artist. "I feel my heart belongs to house music I’m focusing on that area, but I’m not sticking to any cliché or blueprint as I really like to experiment a lot. Luckily this diverse genre allows me to vary my output from electro and tech driven house to more vocal, disco or proggy and lately very organic sound with distinctive ethno elements."
His first production success came in the form of "Play It EP", released under the moniker Vale & Timo on USA based label Portamento, which was a Juno Records, DJ Downloads and Beatport top seller. It was followed by honored remixes for David Farlow’s "Acid Dried" and James Zabiela’s “Weird Science" as well as his artist releases "Complicated" on British label Agent Funk and "Colours EP" on Italian Total Wipes. Spinning of “Loco Nuts EP” by deejays such as Umek, Popof, Alex Young, Anderson Noise and Eric Entrena gave Vale additional confirmation of his versatile production skill and pushed him to take things even further. "Emotions are core line of all my productions. I always play on emotions by little details that trigger special feelings in your body and mind. The same goes for my life performances. I believe deejay should not be a juke-box, event if the best one. We are artists and performers and people come to our clubs to be entertained.”
Sharing ideas and blending artistic skills is another of Mike’s qualities. He’s long time collaboration with fellow countryman Alex Long perfectly reflected in "Epic Drama EP" (including remix by Piatto), but it’s his collaboration with crossover club act Sylvain and sexy muse Lara Love that raises the eyebrows in Slovenia and South Eastern Europe territories, where they are supported by mainstream radio stations as well as MTV. Vale joined the duo as a co-producer for their single release "Mysterious" and they already developed semi-live act for the club and festival arenas together. Another project you should be aware of this summer is his double single release "Global Oriental / Trobezlon” on premiere NY based Nervous Records, label respected for the releases of house masters such as Armand van Helden, Laidback Luke, Frankie Knuckles, Paul Harris, Chris Lake, Ralph Falcon and Jerry Roperro, to name a few. If nothing else this release proves once more that Mike Vale, a very passionate man and artist that believes in perfect mix when it comes to studio work or deejay set, belongs to one of the global house nation’s brightest heroes of the future.
